DERBY IN NEXT PHASE OF ACTION IN FIGHT TO SAVE EDUCATION FROM GOVE

Following the hugely successful strike for education in the North West, the NUT / NASUWT have announced the next phase of action.  In September we hit the ground running in the City of Derby.  On 14th September there is to be a Rally for Education in Nottingham. On 29th September there will be a huge demonstration outside the Tory Party Conference in Manchester and in the week beginning 30th September the Midlands will take a day's strike action, along with other regions.  If Gove still will not talk to us then there will be further regional strikes in the week beginning 14th October and a national strike in November.  We are fighting not just for our pay, pensions and conditions of service but also for the quality of education all our children receive.  Gove is not just attacking teachers, he is re-writing the curriculum, reintroducing 'old' style exams and introducing more testing at an ever younger age.  If he gets his way we will see more and more children turned off education before they even leave the infant stage.  STAND UP FOR EDUCATION - come to the rally and demonstration, join the strike and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
