Gove weakened - Strike 26th March!

Michael Gove has been weakened by the STRB refusing to back his requests to get rid of the 195 working days and 1265 directed hours rules.  However, his decision to accept in full the recommendations of the STRB is likely to be temporary and if we back down now then he will probably revisit this next year.  Michael Gove is a man on a mission and seems determined to tear up all the agreements and working practices we have had in place for decades.  Make no mistake, although he is down he is not out and will continue to demonise teachers and limit the curriculum we can deliver to our children.  Gove is still pushing ahead with his attacks on our pay, pensions and workload so we need to step up the fight to protect teachers and defend education.  Join the strike on 26th March, come to the Division meeting on Tuesday 25th February at 4.45pm, The Kingsmead School, Bridge Street, Derby, DE1 3LB. All members welcome.
