Get Active in the Autumn!

The holidays are almost here, but when we get back there's lot's going on - so put these in your diary and then have a fantastic summer!

Members Meeting - The Education Bill

Our first members' meeting of the academic year will address the biggest issue threatening education at the moment: the proposed Education Bill. There is information about the threats which are posed by the bill on the NUT's website here, and a link where you can write to your MP to express your concerns here. Come to the members' meeting for a more in-depth discussion, and to help decide our response in Derby!

The meeting will be on Friday 16th October at 4.30 pm at
The Oast House
Foresters Leisure Park
Osmaston Park Rd
Derby
DE23 8AG

Free drink included!
Young Teachers (and guests) Bowling Night!

Following on from the meeting we would like to host a social event at Tenpin Bowling near to the Oast House.

We would offer a free game to members who wanted to attend, at 6.30 pm, Friday 16th October . Although this event would be aimed at young teachers (teachers aged 35 or under) we would welcome guests of young teachers too.

We will need to hire the lanes in advance, so please email us at cityofderbynut@gmail.com or call Division Secretary, Sue Arguile, on 07929 043 415 if you would be interested in some free bowling and refreshments!
All Roads Lead To Manchester!

200,000 people marched in London in opposition to the Tories' continued austerity plans. It was loud, it was colourful, it was angry, it was vibrant - but it was not the end! Four coachloads' worth of opposition went down to London for June 20th - now the People's Assembly and the TUC are calling for an even bigger mobilisation at the Tory conference on October 4th.

There will be coaches going to Manchester. Now is the time to take part in the fightback against this government's destructive policies. If you're interested in a seat on a coach to the demonstration, please email us at cityofderbynut@gmail.com or call the Division Secretary, Sue Arguile, on 07929 043 415
