NO NICKY, NO!

Over 50 peope joined the NUT/ATL protest against the Government threat to force all schools to become academies. The protest was lively, angry and noisy. Everyone there understood that forcing schools down the academy route has nothing to do with 'raising standards' and everything to do with softening schools up for privatisation. Speakers from NUT, ATL, the Trades Council and  Councillor Sarah Russell (Cabinet Member for Schools and Education) outlined the threat to comprehensive state education posed  by Nicky Morgan's White Paper.  Over 150,000 people have already signed the parliamentary petition calling for a referendum on forced academies.
