Great turnout at demonstration for Health, Homes, Jobs & Education - Now build the campaign for action!

Today's People's Assembly demonstration in London drew tens of thousands onto the streets.

Education was a key issue for many of the demonstrators, including our own DGS Kevin Courtney, as we can see from this flattering picture...
Derby NUT members found ourselves drawn irresistably to the new #TellNickyNO balloon.

Something about the Secretary of State for Education's unflappable demeanour drew us in...
We were proud to be marching alongside so many other trades unionists, as well as individuals who had been extremely creative in making their opinions felt!

And as teachers the ways in which some of the protesters drew parallels with literature and history were much appreciated!
The thousands who filled Trafalgar Square came from so many different parts of our society
and this meant that while some teachers were able to highlight the problems faced in particular areas of the country
others linked up with junior doctors, who are already fighting the fight we are preparing for!
Ready for the struggle: junior doctors and teachers together
Today's demonstration comes as we begin the biggest fight for our profession in living memory - in fact, since the establishment of state education in 1870.

Get to our campaign meeting on 12th May! Details on the blog here: http://cityofderbynut.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/education-white-paper-campaign-meeting.html
