Stand Up For Education Stall - Raising Public Awareness

One of the biggest challenges that we face in our campaign to save public education is that many people are not aware of the extent of the threat which government plans pose to our education system. Across the country NUT Divisions and Associations are campaigning hard to involve members and the public in a continuation of our Stand Up For Education campaign.

Derby has already seen a good-sized public protest outside the council house, and this week we had a successful public meeting inside the council house (more on this in our next blog post).

Last Saturday we had our first public stall. Organised at short notice, we still got several volunteers - including a member who had not been on an activity like this before! We spent a couple of hours on Saturday handing out information, talking to the public and getting people to sign up to the campaign.

Thanks to everyone who stopped and had a chat, those who took the information - and especially those who signed up to the campaign!

Special thanks to all the members who gave up part of their weekend to help their colleagues and get the message out about the threat posed by the government's proposals!
