Stop the education cuts - keep up the pressure!

In her Queen's Speech yesterday, Theresa May missed a chance to stop the funding cuts that she is determined to continue forcing through in education. These cuts really matter to the public and are deeply unpopular.

It is very welcome that she has dropped her attack on free school meals in primary schools. Free meals make a world of difference to so many children, especially with so many families struggling to make ends meet and this year alone over 436,000 children have been fed from food banks.

But education is in crisis because it is being starved of the money it needs. Over £2.8 billion has been cut from education since 2015.
But this government is under real pressure. It is governing without a majority in Parliament, and it can be defeated over these cuts.

Since her return to office, Theresa May has faced almost daily large protests in London. On 1st July the People's Assembly has called a national demonstration with the demands:

If you would like to join this demonstration and form a Derby NUT delegation to this demonstration please let us know.

The coach will go from Derby Bus Station at 8 am on Saturday 1st July, returning Saturday evening.
