It's an exciting time to be a trades union activist in education at the moment, with the National Education Union being created from the merger of the NUT and the ATL.
This has created the fourth-largest union in the TUC and is a serious step towards professional unity. All the indications are that we are seeing a large growth in membership as a result of this very welcome move forward.
The merger of two unions does create a lot of questions and the next few years as we fully merge will throw up all sorts of issues. If you would like to have a meeting in your school about the new union and what it means in your workplace, please get in touch.
