As part of the national weekend of action against school cuts called by the NEU, some of our members in Derby held a stall yesterday in the city centre.
We had a good number of volunteers and a lot of people took leaflets and signed up.
We hope to get enough members of the public signed up to the campaign to hold a public meeting about school cuts in the next few weeks.
We'll be doing another stall next weekend, marking Worker's Memorial Day. So as well as raising awareness about school cuts we will also be highlighting the concerns about asbestos in our schools. The two are inextricably linked - if funding is cut then health and safety for staff and students can be threatened, especially given the number of schools with asbestos in them.
Next week's stall will be held between 1 and 3 pm at The Ram in Derby city centre. Any members who would like to help out will be very very welcome!
Enjoy these photographs from yesterday's stall!
