The NEU are taking part in a weekend of action on school funding on 21st and 22nd April.
£2.8 billion has been cut from school budgets since 2015. This is an average of £45.4k cut to primary schools and £185.2k cut to secondary schools.
We must take action to oppose this. When the general public are told about the cuts, they support us. We need to make sure that people hear what is happening to our schools.
Here in Derby, we will be holding a street stall in the city centre to talk to people about the issues. It would be great for our members to come along.
All are welcome. Why not arrange to come with other members from your school? That way, you can campaign with friends and build your school union group at the same time.
If you would like more information on the campaign, please visit the NEU website, www.teachers.org.uk. For details of the cuts happening in your area, see the website schoolcuts.org.uk.
We will be meeting at the ram statue, close to the bus station 1-3 pm on Saturday 21st April and again on Saturday 28th April, 1-3. Let us know if you can make it, or just see us there.
We will also be encouraging people to join the TUC demonstration for public services on Saturday 12th May. Contact us for local transport details.
