Annual Conference 2022: Day 4 14 April 2022

Welcome to Conference 2022's final session!
The morning started with another political announcement of staggering cruelty from this government that plans to place asylum seekers who have come to the UK in Rwanda. Conference has already shown what we think of that idea.
You can sign a petition against these proposals here: https://r.ippl.es/camps/

Session began with an address from the general secretary of Cuba's teaching union. Unfortunately my children did not appreciate the idea of urgency so I missed it ☹️ if others in the delegation can fill in we will post below.

Conference passed urgent motion 4, against all forms of conversion therapy - really important that we took a principled stand on this issue.

On the motion against school exclusions, first time speaker Rizwana explains how Child X doesn't benefit from exclusion!

Props and costumes today. We've had robots, roman centurions and punch and Judy.
I know we're by the sea, but not on the end of the pier.
Who's a naughty boy then - well Boris obviously!

It's been a blast. Most enjoyable and good company.
Thanks to you all. Happy trails.

Wow we got through all conference business! Mary and Kevin giving great speech responding to the awful green and white papers.
Mary B: the white paper says excessive workload, ' where it still exists' will be tackled with a wellbeing charter. We all know that schools where excessive workload does not exist are as rare as hen's teeth'

Bye bye Bournemouth, it's been brilliant
