A Summer of Solidarity

Inflation has defined 2022. As companies have hoarded profits and pay at the top has risen, the majority of workers have been told they need to take a pay cut. Whether it's the boss of BT Openreach taking home £ 3.5 million and telling employees to take £1,500 - the majority of which most low-paid workers would not even see; or Grant Schapps refusing to allow a decent pay deal for rail workers, truly this has been a year to test working people everywhere.

Workers everywhere, from dockers to barristers are organising against being told to get poorer. Some have already won, like the Coventry bin workers, Liverpool bus drivers and Heathrow baggage workers.

We need to show solidarity with workers everywhere. We are all facing the same crisis and all being told that we have to take the cost of it while profits for corporations from Shell to BT rocket upwards.

This morning there was a great picket at Derby Royal Mail Sorting Office! Show your support tomorrow (Friday 9 September) by stopping by on the way to work, honking your horn and holding a union meeting to take a mass selfie with these posters: https://www.cwu.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/06809-01-I-support-my-postie.pdf
