The NEU is launching an indicative ballot on 2 March on PAY and FUNDING in education.
Why are we balloting again?
•Teacher
pay rise last year was double what the Tories wanted to give us – because WE
took strike action
•But
it wasn’t enough to meet inflation
•It
wasn’t enough to reverse a decade of real-terms pay cuts
•It
wasn’t enough to solve the recruitment and retention problem
•… and
when the Government announced it had ‘miscalculated’ and there would be £370
million less for schools in 2024-5 than announced, they refused to make good on
their mistake – AND THEN
•Told
the STRB to look for a 1-2% pay rise for teachers in 2024-5 as inflation rises again
•Without
an increase in EDUCATION FUNDING this will lead to teacher and support staff
LOSSES across the country, further stretching a system at breaking point.
We know that TURNOUT is hugely important to a SUCCESSFUL camapaign; and that means members need to know what you're being asked to do and why - so make sure you MEET in your schools!
