Autumn 2019 Newsletter: Meeting on 20th September!

Hello! I hope you've had a great summer and had the opportunity to recharge your batteries.

There has been mixed news about education over the summer with the promise of extra funding for schools, a huge victory for our campaign over funding cuts over the last several years.

However, this extra funding won't be enough to make up for the losses caused over the last decade by funding cuts, not matching the increased pensions costs and above all the huge expense of creating and maintaining the academisation system, so we have a lot to do!

In this newsletter

We have a lot going on locally and nationally, so I have decided to do each section as a microblog and put the links to each section below. I hope you find this a useful format, and that it makes for easier reading. In this newsletter you can find out about:
  1. Our next general meeting - change of date to Friday September 20th. We have some important items that need members to vote on, so please attend if you can. Our agenda is on this blog post here - please get in touch with any items you would like to add.
  2. Climate Emergency - Student Strikes and Climate Emergency Education Conference. The next student strike day is 20th September, how is your school supporting action on climate change?
  3. Equalities Charter working group
  4. Regional Rep Training 26th November - Supporting Support Staff
  5. National Organising Forums and National Councils - do you have something to contribute to particular parts of the union's work? Find out how to get more involved!
