Developing a Whole School Approach  Lisa Tunnell  (NEU) Secondary Teacher

Often, it is individuals who initiate or take responsibility for anti-racist activities in schools. This workshop will share experiences of moving beyond this and developing a long term approach, where anti-racism is embodied as a whole school responsibility.

Creating Student Anti-Racist Ambassadors in Schools  Sue Arguile, Derby SUTR & Megan Taki, student.

Stand up to Racism Ambassadors taken from the student body can be an effective way of tackling racism in majority white schools. This workshop will look at a case study and ask how we can develop this initiative. Students are strongly invited to attend and to share their experiences.

Myths about Islam  Hassan Hajat   Chesterfield Muslim Welfare Association.

November is Islamophobia Awareness Month. This workshop will discuss some of the negative stereotypes that prevail in Britain today and how these have been challenged within schools.

Helping Primary Pupils to understand Why Black Lives Matter Lud Ramsey African Caribbean Community Association

Lud has extensive experience of speaking to primary school audiences. He will share how he approaches the subject and the responses he has received.

Developing an Anti-Racist Curriculum in Primary Schools through Children's Books  Meera Senior & Gill Scott  Parent and Governor at Hayfield Primary School.

Meera and Gill will present some books which they believe can be useful in promoting diversity in our classrooms. You are invited to bring share your own favourite books!
